So you are all set to go off for a Royal Caribbean cruise— but did you know there are certain tricks and tips that will help you to get more out of the entire experience? Whether you are a first-time cruiser or have done it already, these tips are sure to help:
Buy shore excursions in advance: Why wait to board when you can purchase your shore excursions online? Not only do you get this out of the way for a more relaxing time on board, but you are also assured of a spot in your desired excursion as popular ones tend to sell out fast. However, if you haven’t made the purchase and your cruise is due soon – don’t worry. There are some shore excursions that are reserved for onboard bookings— remember to get it done as soon as you board.
Have lunch on board: Among the many complimentary meals onboard the Royal Caribbean cruise ships, the first one is served when you board the cruise. So if you are setting sail in the afternoon, there is no need to spend on lunch near the pier. Since you get it included in the price of your cruise, simply head up to the Windjammer and enjoy the delicious buffet.
Make prior reservations for specialty dining: Make 3 or more reservations at any of the specialty restaurants on Royal Caribbean cruises and you will get a credit that is up to 30% of the price. You can use this credit any way you want to during your cruise. Also, there is a first day discount available—usually, a 20% discount is on offer if you dine at a specialty restaurant on the first evening.
Take advantage of child-friendly dining options: If you are traveling with children, find out about the dining options on board that offer discounts or children menus. One feature is that for just $8, kids can dine at the specialty restaurants and order from a special menu. This special price will then be added to your final bill. While on a Royal Caribbean cruise, you can also avail of My Family Time Dining for children aged 3-11 years. All you need to do is register your children for the program, and they will receive their meal not later than 40 minutes after being seated during the first seating time. Later, they will be taken to the Adventure Ocean where they can enjoy a number of activities, allowing the parents to enjoy a nice meal together. You can choose to opt for this service on the nights you want, anytime after your second night on the ship.
