Founded close to the end of 1066, the Tower has an impressive history and boasts associations with such famous figures as King Richard the Lionheart and William the Conquerer, according to UNESCO, and is the site of execution for three famous English queens. A medieval fortress palace, the Tower of London is also home to the famous Crown Jewels, including St Edward’s Crown and the Diamond Diadem.
